Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern use of ConnectInk ("ConnectInk," "we," "us"), an AI writing-feedback service operated by Insights & Innovations. By using ConnectInk you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Notice. Schools and districts that authorize student access are also bound by our Data Processing Agreement.

1. Who may use ConnectInk

• Students may use ConnectInk when their school or teacher has authorized access. ConnectInk is intended for students aged 13 and older; we do not knowingly accept accounts for children under 13 (see our Notice on Children Under 13).
• Teachers and school staff may use ConnectInk to create classes, review student writing shared with those classes, and review the AI feedback their students received.
• You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity under your account.

2. What ConnectInk does — and does not do

ConnectInk gives feedback on writing in the form of questions, observations, and suggested revisions. It never writes, rewrites, or completes a student's work, and it does not assign grades. AI feedback can be imperfect or mistaken; it is a tool to support a student's own thinking and a teacher's judgment, not a replacement for either. All AI-generated content is labeled as such.

3. Student work belongs to the student

Students (and, where applicable, their schools) retain all rights to the writing they create in ConnectInk. We claim no ownership of student work. We use it only to provide the service to the student and their school, as described in the Privacy Notice — never to train AI models, for advertising, or for any commercial purpose.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• access another person's account, documents, or classes without authorization;
• attempt to probe, disable, overload, or circumvent the security of the service;
• use the service to harass, threaten, or harm others, or to submit unlawful content;
• use automated tools to scrape the service or to generate feedback at volume; or
• misrepresent your identity, age, role, or school affiliation.

5. Sharing and publishing

Students may share a document with a class they belong to, and may choose to publish a document to a link that anyone with the link can read. Publishing is optional and can be reversed at any time. Students should follow their school's guidance before publishing work that contains personal information.

6. Privacy

How we collect, use, protect, and delete data is described in our Privacy Notice. Schools may request deletion of their students' data at any time; students and parents may do so through the Data Deletion Request page.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep ConnectInk available and may update, improve, or discontinue features over time. We may update these Terms; material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and, for school partners, communicated in writing.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

ConnectInk is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law, including the rights of students and parents under FERPA, COPPA, and New York Education Law §2-d, or our obligations under an executed Data Processing Agreement.

9. Termination

You may stop using ConnectInk at any time. We may suspend or end access for violations of these Terms. On termination of a school's agreement, we return or delete the school's student data as described in the Data Processing Agreement.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
